Introduction Congratulations! You’ve just landed your dream job at one of Eon Husk’s prestigious companies. The pay is decent, the title is impressive, and you’ve already started telling people at parties that you work in “the future.” But beware, at every turn, you’ll be asked to make tough decisions that may challenge your morals, sanity, and ability to see your family ever again. Will you make it to the top, or will you flame out like a poorly soldered car battery? Will you innovate or incinerate? Will you disrupt or self-destruct? The choice is yours! Your first day begins with an all-hands meeting where the lights suddenly dim, and a giant, flickering blue hologram of Eon Husk materializes in the centre of the room. Hooded in shadow, his glowing figure crackles with unstable energy as he raises a hand and delivers his message: “We are here to change the world. That means we must work harder, faster, and disregard trivialities like sleep, laws, or personal boundaries. If you can’t handle that, the exit is behind you.”
The room is silent except for the faint hum of nervousness and muttering. What do you do?
- If you succumb to your new master, extreme hardcore mode is initiated. Turn to Page 7.
- If you stand up and applaud while suppressing your inner terror. Turn to Page 21.
- If you believe that a healthy work-life balance fosters creativity, leaders should exercise intent-based communication rather than command-and-control micromanagement. Teams that have mastery, autonomy, and purpose can achieve great things. You clear your throat and seek clarification on the purpose of doing 3 people’s jobs on one salary; surely prolonged periods of unsustainable work would lead to mistakes, immediately feel the temperature in the room drop by 10 degrees.
